CS 1.6 still alive?

I've been away for about 18 months. Is CS 1.6 dead? Has Source finally taken over? Is Source still rubbish?
Someone told me that only a few clans still operate in 1.6, and that the only good CS 1.6 public these days is Jolt, and that Dustworld got sold and went down the pan. True?
Come on, I'm putty in your hands, somebody tell me something. I'm alone and I want to play some 1.6... I think I'm gonna cry.

UK CS is, as usual, dying and/or dead. Euro CS is still huge
a lot of the 'top' clans are inactive/retired...wait until the new SGL season starts up and the activity will go up...
and yes, Source is still cr*p...CGS is w*nk...TF2 rocks...

Look at the news post, ESWC 1.6 .. WI4 .. Dustworld CSDM .. versatile cup .. SGL online heroes.
CSGN is supposedly coming back with the new SGL season, ED has got a cup up, IG6 should be coming up soon. The clans are apparently not as good but, the new teams are coming up and are still putting up exciting matches so who cares if its not the people you were used to.

TF2 is awesome, loads of people are playing it right now, much more enjoyable than playing 1.6..especially against the amount of shitters posting skilled mixes these days

Not dead, it technically dies every week and comes back when new teams pop up....as long as we have events with 1.6 in CS will still keep going!
Dustworld pub is dead, no-servers pub is dead and without those if resorted to some pretty shady jolt servers. Still plenty people mixing, but less actuall clans it seems.
If you put it in perspective, CS is doing about as well as it has done at any point in the last 3 years. It's not as good as it was when 4K, omg, i-eS were all around, but there is still a fair bit of competition.

For past 5 years every 6 months thers a post on here or UKT back in the day that UK CS was dead or is dying...
As far as I can tell, it's quieter, but not dead.
I remember when the queue to get into dw 24/7 would make you want to quit alone, now all you see is tumbleweed flying across the screen

Yes UK CS is dead Euro 1.6 is still massive though with teams like MYM , SK, fnatic

source is much bigger than 1.6 nowadays but 1.6 still has a few decent tournaments . the source community is massive compared though many more games on irc
