The EPS Season 3 CS 1.6 semi-finals have taken place over the last week. The finals have been played online as opposed to the promised LAN arrangement as ESL wish to save money.

A quick reminder to all UK players to join the ESL EAS or Mix ladder and play at least a dozen games per week in the hopes CS 1.6 is considered for another EPS season. Get gaming!



The UKs top two teams will battle it out to take away the cash prizes guaranteed by ESL. Both will be attending wiredout to determine who really is the UKs top team on LAN.

1st. vVv / vitalsigns - €2,000
2nd. vVv / vitalsigns - €850
3rd. dignitas.intel / cLip - €500
4th. dignitas.intel / cLip - €250

In addition to these amounts, all teams is due to receive win bonuses of €30 each. The four teams in the playoffs will receive the following;

dignitas.intel - €300
vVv - €270
cLip - €240
vitalsigns - €240

dignitas.intel and vitalsigns will have their total prize monies reduced by 12% as each team has 4 minor penalty points. How this amount will be distributed, UKCT is unsure. Our best guess is that ESL will pocket the money - This is solely the opinion of the writer of this news post.

dignitas and TheLastResort will be taking part in fnatic's Play tournament this week with a chance to win over £1,000 and tickets to the Beat It LAN finals in Beijing.

Prize list:

1st. £1,050 and 5x tickets to Beat It LAN finals
2nd. £650
3rd. £500

They'll be up against 31 other teams, 16 of whom qualified and 16 who have been invited. Currently only 10 of the invited squads have been revealed with another six to be confirmed later today.

The tournament structure will be a simple best of three single elimination with the semi finals, third place playoff and grand final being best of three.

There we have it, the representatives from the United Kingdom are out but showing good performances against some of the best players around.

Björn "threat" Per has been released by fnatic. Although achieving first at Arbalet Cup Europe and second at the IEM finals, results recently have been waning and have led to his removal. threat only joined in early 2010, replacing Rasmus "GuX" Stahl who left due to personal disagreements with the team.

Harley "dsn" Orwall commented:

Today we are parting ways with threat. Our results lately have been a bit questionable and our play in-game hasn't been what it once was.

We felt we needed a change to keep the team strong, fresh and motivated for the upcoming tournaments. We would like to wish Bjorn the best of luck and thank him for his time as a friend, teammate and player in fnatic.

The teams next tournament will be GameGune in a week and no replacement has been confirmed.

As befitting many Finnish teams in the past, Playzone have gone the way of astralis, Excello and PowerGaming and have been hit by the requirement of some of their players to join national service.

Otto "danzer" Dimitrow, Miikka "dRiim" Toroi and Jirka "jiGetus" Ryhti will be serving for at least six months, leaving the Playzone lineup with two.

No replacements have been confirmed but we'll be sure to hear something soon.
